North Okaloosa Amateur Radio Club (NOARC)
About Us
The North Okaloosa Amateur Radio Club (NOARC), call sign W4AAZ, is a nonprofit service organization based in Crestview, Florida. Founded in 2008 and affiliated with the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), NOARC serves amateur radio enthusiasts in Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton Counties in Florida, as well as Covington County in Alabama. With over 50 members, the club promotes unity, fellowship, and skill development in radio communications, emphasizing public service and community service.
Our Mission
NOARC encourages the positive aspects of amateur radio focusing on education, mentoring, and fostering a prepared community. Our operations and associations include support for our local
amateur radio Gulf Coast VHF Training Net (GCVTN), Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES), Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and private and municipal events. NOARC is a critical source for communication during hurricane outages.
Activities and Services
• Meetings: Held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 7:00 PM at Live Oak Baptist Church, 4565 Live Oak Church Rd, Crestview, FL 32539. Open to members, visitors, and prospects (in-person or Zoom).
• Events: Annual Autumn Hamfest, monthly Tech Nights, ARRL Field Days, license training and testing, and our joint regional “Ham for the Holidays” Party.
• Specialties: Contesting, Parks on The Air (POTA) digital modes, DXing, VHF/UHF, repeaters (e.g., W4AAZ Club Repeaters & KO4EOC ARES repeater).
• Education: Entry-level and higher license classes, mentoring programs, on-air bulletins.
• A nightly net is also operated on the club’s 147.360 repeater at 8:00 PM central time and is a great way to test out your equipment and say “hello” to your fellow hams.
Join Us
Whether you’re a seasoned ham or new to the hobby, NOARC welcomes all. Participate in our NETS, various on-air and events, community service and support activities, and club meetings to build skills and connections.
